As more merchants reach out to us directly, we've also introduced clearer ways to differentiate agencies based on their experience and expertise with Hyvä.

Partner Tiers

Your agency earns points for the work it does with Hyvä, and your points total determines your partner status, also known as your tier.

The higher the tier, the better you will be listed on our website. You will have the corresponding badge to feature on your agency's assets online and offline, promote your Hyvä expertise and become a true Hyvä ambassador. Merchants can confidently use this information as a true reflection of an agency's expertise and experience with our technology.

In addition to recognition, we will also offer more co-branding opportunities so that, together, we can increase our presence in specific markets. We will also connect regularly with higher volume agencies to get feedback on their implementations and gather input on both our products and our go-to-market approach and activities.

Tier Requirements

Each tier requires a points threshold, a minimum number of developer certifications, and a minimum percentage of your live Hyvä projects passing Google Core Web Vitals:

How Points Are Earned

Our program is FREE. Agencies are rewarded for their contributions to Hyvä's products' adoption and brand expansion.

Points are tallied once per year in December based on the current and previous year's activity. During the year you cannot be downgraded, but you can be upgraded if your points increase. Note that no downgrades will occur in 2026 due to a transition period towards the new point system.

At least 45% of your total points must come from license sales. If your combined marketing and certification points exceed 55% of your total, they will be capped at that threshold (exception: the first 3 certifications always count). Only licenses registered in the Hyvä Portal count toward your score.

Your points come from three sources:

License sales: active Hyvä Commerce, Enterprise, Checkout, and UI licenses, including client licenses connected through My Clients
Certifications: each certification owned by a developer in your agency, valid for the certification year and the two following years
Marketing contributions: landing pages, blog articles, case studies, videos, presentations, and events

Note

The first 3 certifications will always count towards your total partner points, regardless of the license sales.

The Partner Program page in the Hyvä Portal is where you track your current points and tier. It also lists the exact points awarded per product, per certification, and per contribution type, and it is where you submit contributions for review.

How to Join

Before You Apply

Before we can onboard you as a Partner Agency, you must meet at least one of the following:

You, or one of your clients, has purchased at least one paid Hyvä license
You have at least one certified Hyvä developer in your team

Apply Through the Hyvä Portal

Once you create your account, the Portal will guide you through onboarding. During this process:

Select I work at an agency or as a freelancer
When asked if your organization is a Hyvä Partner Agency, select No
Choose Yes, of course! when asked if you would like to become a partner
Confirm Yes, we want to become a Partner Agency

Once submitted, we will review your request and follow up with the next steps. For more detail on the questions you will be asked, see My Agency.

What Happens Next

Please be patient. We review each application manually. That means it can take a little time, but it also means we look at each agency properly. If you have not heard back yet, it simply means we are still working through submissions.

You will receive an email update as soon as your application progresses, including when your partner badges are ready. This ensures you get a heads-up before we make any announcements on socials.

Joining an Existing Partner Agency

Already part of the Hyvä Partner Program? You can request to be added to your agency's team through the Hyvä Portal. During onboarding:

Select I work at an agency or as a freelancer
Choose Yes when asked if your organization is a Hyvä Partner Agency
Enter your agency's partner code, or search for your agency manually
Submit your request

Once approved:

Your certifications will be linked to your agency
You will gain access to partner resources
Your agency can manage licenses connected to your account

FAQs

Can I get listed in multiple countries?

You get listed in the country where you have an office. Agencies can get listed in more than one country if they:

Have an actual office there
Have at least 3 employees there
Have clients in that country
Have a distinct company name in each country

You can then get listed as company name UK, company name NL for instance, so it's clear there are multiple branches and customers understand they're dealing with an international company.

Do I need to pay to join the Hyvä agency partner program?

No, it's not a pay to play program. It is based on how much you deal with Hyvä daily, both from a technical and business point of view.

Do you offer commissions, kickbacks or discounts to agency partners?

No. We are happy to keep it simple and keep our prices very affordable to every merchant who wants to sell online.

What agencies get at the end of the day are happy merchants who see a quick ROI on their new Hyvä builds, a reduction in development time and cost, developers' happiness and lower maintenance costs.

Do you offer a developer's license to get started?

Yes. You can get a free Hyvä Theme license key at hyva.io/hyva-theme-license.html.

We do not offer free developer licenses for Hyvä Checkout, Hyvä Commerce, or Hyvä Enterprise. For these products, we offer a 30 day return policy instead.

After you get familiarized with the Hyvä product, you have the flexibility to transfer that license to your first client. If you need help pitching Hyvä projects, you can use our Showcases and Marketing Material.

How can agencies with fewer clients be rewarded fairly?

Insights we get from talking personally to hundreds of agencies are that those with fewer but bigger clients are led to go deeper into specific clients' requirements and will build Hyvä compatibility modules that are not available off-the-shelf.

Once their project is live, the story they share is also more appealing as their clients are more aspirational, they get invited on stage to talk about it and give it more credibility and exposure, so that makes up for the sheer volume of Hyvä projects that others might be able to build.
